1.END PLATE ASSEMBLY LINE FOR FUEL BUNDLES:

   

In order to improve productivity of assembly operations, Avasarala conceived and developed for the first time in India the automatic assembly of 37 fuel elements for 540 MWe PHWR reactors. Assembly comprises of fuel element clustering in designated positions and orientation, placement of top and bottom end plates, spot resistance welding, weighment and loading on to an inspection conveyor. Fool proofing was done by using elaborate assembly fixtures. Conventional assembly method of single operation stations with operator handling fuel bundles of smaller size was not feasible for 37 fuel elements.

 

Criticalities:

  • Fool proof assembly.
  • Operator intervention limited to clustering of elements.
  • Straight welding parameters and consistent reproducibility Execution involved conceptual design,engineering,elaborate assembly fixture compatible to manual clustering and automatic transfer, development of customised polar hydro-pneumatic robots.

2.TUBE REDUCING MILL

Design, Manufacture, Supply and Installation & Commissioning of Tube Reducing Mill.To reduce the wall thickness (Range 0.2 – 1.5mm) of Tubes. Max length:- 5500mm

   

Mill Contains:

  • Roll Stand assembly.
  • Rocker arm & Saddle assembly.
  • Feed & Turn Check assembly.
  • Mandrel rod check assembly.
  • Feed & Turn Gear box.
  • Inlet & Outlet Check Assembly.
  • Tube clamping, mandrel rod clamping Clutch engage & disengage and Hood operation done by hydraulics.

3.COMPONENTS FOR FUEL BUNDLE ASSEMBLIES

Manufacture and supply of components for FBR Fuel assembly
